Expected changes in competition repertoire

In the 13th TICC for string quartets (2025) we presented a new twist in Stage II which included programming. We are considering making a similar change for the upcoming piano trio competition in 2027.

From the competition rules 2025:

«In Stage II each ensemble shall present a balanced program of max. 45 minutes of music showing understanding of different styles. The program must contain music by a minimum of three different composers: one of them being from a list of Trondheim Chamber Music Festival’s festival composers and previous TICC commissions.

For the rest of the programme for this concert, you are free to choose any repertoire, except for the works you have chosen for Stage I and Final. Individual movements of works are permitted, but excerpts of movements are not allowed. With this program you have the opportunity to demonstrate both excellence in performance and skill in curating.

Each ensemble will submit a short, written description of the thought behind the chosen program which should provide the listener, both audience and jurors, insight into the ideas behind the works.»
